About the National Pineapple Growers, Processors, and Marketers Association of Nigeria (NAPIGPMAN)

The National Pineapple Growers, Processors, and Marketers Association of Nigeria (NAPIGPMAN), hereinafter referred to as ‘The Association’, is a leading organization committed to promoting the growth and sustainability of Nigeria’s pineapple industry. The Association unites key stakeholders across the pineapple value chain, including farmers, processors, marketers, exporters, and allied service providers.

To create an enabling environment that fosters productivity and profitability for all participants in the pineapple value chain.

Vision

To be a key player in the PINEAPPLE Sub-sector locally and internationally.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The aims and objectives of the Association shall be:
  • To sensitize our members to improve the production, processing and marketing of Pineapple with a view to supplying the local and International markets with produce for income generation.
  • To collaborate with the Federal Government and non-governmental agencies to transform the traditional methods of farming to mechanized system.
  • To transform Pineapple business in the country with particular reference to production, processing and marketing.
  • To supervise the proper distribution and use of grants, and credit facilities from Governments, Banks, Donor Agencies, Development Partners and other institutions amongst members.
  • To organize and encourage group/co-operative system.
  • To liaise with the Government on all matters regarding Pineapple Subsector.
  • To encourage members of NAPIGPMAN to establish small scale processing industries.
  • To affiliate and subscribe to Local and International Agricultural Organizations in order to bring developmental projects and programmes to members and the subsector.
  • To provide persons and corporate organizations interested in pineapple business facilities for discussions and interchange of information and knowledge sharing.
  • To organize workshops, conferences, trainings and seminars to deepen the knowledge of members in the PINEAPPLE FARMING, PROCESSING AND MARKETING.
  • To promote growers and off takers, partnership arrangement in Nigeria.
  • To liaise and maintain good relationship with all the relevant Ministries and Agencies of the Federal, State and Local Governments of Nigeria in the interest of the Association and also with other International, Regional, Technical and Economic organizations pursuing similar or related objectives.
  • To enter into working agreements and affiliations with organizations or associations having similar objectives provided such agreements and affiliations do not in any way impede the operations of the constitution.

Membership & Registration

MEMBERSHIP

Membership of the Association is voluntary and shall be open to all PINEAPPLE GROWERS, PROCESSORS AND MARKETERS in Nigeria within the age bracket of eighteen (18) years and above.

Members Registration

Members registration fees and dues shall be prescribed by the National executive Committee and shall be subject to review from time to time.

Right of Members

i. Each registered member (corporate/individuals) upon registration shall be issued with a membership number and a signed membership Card sealed with the seal of the Association.
ii. Every registered and regular fee paying member shall have the right to elect and be elected into any office available in the Association provided he/she possess all prescribed qualifications. Unless otherwise specified.
iii. Every registered and regular fee paying member shall have the right to participate in all activities of the Association, unless otherwise specified. 

iv. Every registered and regular fee paying member shall have the privilege to present memo(s) on how to achieve the aims and objectives of the Association. This shall be done and submitted through the National Secretariat in a type-written format and signed by the member clearly indicating his/her name, branch and membership number.

Members Obligation

i The Association, through the National Executive Committee may from time to time formulate and impose on members such duties or obligations as may be deemed appropriate in the interest of the Association and its members and with a view to realizing the aims and objectives of the Association.

ii All members, Committee members and or branch members of the Association shall at all times abide by the provisions of this constitution.

iii. It shall be mandatory for member(s) to attend meetings of the Association in which, he/she is a participant or member.

iv. It shall be mandatory for member(s) to perform their duties in good faith and exhibit exemplary honesty, skill, decency and diligence in the performance of their constitutional duties.

Duties and Liabilities of Membership

i. Bear full allegiance to the observance of this constitution and or any Bye-Law or Regulation made in pursuit of the aims and objectives of the Association.
ii. Pay annual subscriptions and periodic dues/levies as approved by the National Executive Committee.
iii. Attend and participate actively in all meetings, functions and programmes involving the Association.
iv. Conduct themselves and behave orderly in all meetings and functions involving the Association.
v. Approach any assigned responsibility dutifully and with utmost diligence.

Cessation of Membership

Membership of the Association shall be deemed to have ceased on the occurrence of any of the following:
i. If a member’s subscription is in arrears of two years.
ii. If a member resigns from the Association.
iii. By Death.
iv. If a member is suspended or expelled for anti-Association activities by 2/3 majority vote at a General/Emergency Meeting of the Association after having first been given opportunity to defend himself/herself.
